Sunday at East Coast Park

Was amused when I saw Hubby sitting with Gine, 'sea-gazing' when we were at ECP last Saturday...
Perhaps I was too imaginative, hmmm...imagine this was a scene in a movie, and you fast forward to 10 years later, or even 20 years? Hee hee...
Well, we happened to decide to drive over to Playground @ Big Splash (not too near to our house though) as Gine was having her term break from Shichida. Mummy Barney had wanted to try the coffee at Old Town White Coffee which was started by Mediacorp artiste Mark Lee with Director Jack Neo and another friend in February this year...
Would definitely recommend this: nice ambience, not too expensive for their food and coffee. Tried their curry chicken toast with hubby (and even Gine who took a piece of the toasted bread) - Thumbs up! (Perhaps also partly cos I miss Mum's curry chicken). On the other hand, their French toast is only so-so (even Gine refused to have a second bite!)...Thumbs up for their iced Hazelnut White Coffee but Hubby's black coffee was not that fantastic (For those who may start to think that Mummy Barney and Hubby have ordered too much, this was actually our lunch + dinner).

And so happened that there was an event organised by the National Family Council - Kidz Walkz, the finale of National Family Celebrations ’08.

Crowded with lots of families who were invited to to walk along a 1km trail along East Coast Park. Free popcorn, candy floss, prawn cracker (Calbee ok!), balloons etc. Unfortunately, Gine did not like the noisy atmosphere (guess the emcee was too loud over the microphone) and even the balloon sculpture did not appeal to her (till we brought her to the sea side)...

A Little Pamper

Have envied Greg's Mummy who has been spending her weekdays eating, shopping etc etc for the past weeks (since she decided to give up her job of 9 years) that I decided to take a day off work to join her.

Started the day having dim sum at Red Star Restaurant, located at Chin Swee Road. Brought back memories of bringing Mum there for lunch after her medical check up. Managed to squeeze in some time to shop at Raffles City before our spa appointment at Aramsa Spas

One of the few outdoor spa in Singapore, was impressed with the ambience when we entered. First encounter of a spa in a couple's room (not with Hubby but with Greg's Mummy)...

Thought it was a good deal that we had paid for. An hour of massage, plus another hour of facial, with a complimentary eye cocoon treatment thrown in for our dark eye rings (not that we have)...

Simply mesmerizing...

Just before we ended our session, heard some snoring and thought it was Greg's Mummy who has fallen asleep. When I confronted her, Greg's Mummy commented that she too, heard some snores during the session...

Perhaps we have both fallen asleep at different point of time, as it was simply too relaxing...

The Ultimate - Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

Have always been a great fan of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's Ultimate Ice Blended and somehow, Regine is also always looking forward to her muffin before her Saturday class at Shichida HDB Hub.

Unfortunately, was utterly disappointed with their service yesterday...

Just completed my order and was bringing Gine her muffin and the drinks to our table. Just as I was clearing the tray away, Hubby overturned his cup of brew and made a terrible mess. The first thing that came to my mind was to bring Gine away from the table to avoid any scalding.

As a kid, she was upset and started to create a big commotion when I took away her muffin (as coffee was flowing onto her plate). At this time, it was a complete mess and Hubby hurriedly asked the counter staff (which was just right beside our table) for a wet cloth.

Well, the staff just handed the cloth to Hubby, yup, and that's it! I would not have blamed them if there was a huge crowd in front of the order counter (in fact, there wasnt anyone at all!). And it was not as if our table was so far away from the counter that the staff were not able to witness what had happened!

All eyes (from other customers) were on us though! Not too sure cos of the 'endless action' (cleaning and clearing) or cos of Gine's cries. Anyway, the 2 middle aged ladies beside us, looked at us, helpless. All they could do was to hand us a wet tissue (from some Japanese restaurant) and subsequently gave up their seats to us...

Till now, not a Coffeebean offered any assistance, not even a little gesture of giving us some serviettes. What was even more annoying was the staff FINALLY came out to clear the mess, when and only when we have settled down on the other table (given up by the 2 kind-hearted ladies!)

Guess Singapore still has a long way more - to improve their customer service!!!

Barney's Let's Imagine Live Show

Yes, don't be surprised! I brought Gine to watch Barney's Let's Imagine Live show at Suntec City Convention Hall this morning (Bought the tickets immediately when I got to know Barney was coming to town). Definitely good seats and had thought that the aisle in front of us would be a good place for Gine and Greg to sing and dance along with Barney (guess I was wrong!)!

And yes again, Hubby came along as well, with Greg's Mummy and Daddy!

Unfortunately, in the end, the show was a sorta a 'horror' movie for Gine, who clung on tightly to Mummy Barney as she peeped at what's on stage occasionally. Even her favourite Baby Bop and her favourite songs and animals did not appeal to her. Kept on ranting "I want to go out" which Mummy Barney simply ignored (:p).

Learnt my lesson. Guess Gine was probably too young still and the darkness in the concert hall could have frightened her (She is always asking Mummy Barney 'why so dark?' every night when we reach home). Anyway, it was definitely a relief for Gine when the show came to an end.

When asked whether she still wants to watch Barney show, Gine gave a firm 'NO'! (Sigh, could have just saved my money from the tix!)
Well, on the other hand, Mummy Barney has enjoyed herself at the show though! Hee! Hee!

Forum Shopping Centre - Discovery of another Indoor Playground

Found out about the indoor playground at Forum from Greg's Mummy. Have gone to Forum so many times (actually, don't really go there as often) but was not even aware that there was this playground, hidden deep inside...A small little corner, just for kids. Slides, suspension bridge, pool of colourful balls, tricycles, a wooden house etc, enough to entertain the little ones for an hour or two.

Anyway, Gine was happy to join Greg at the playground, imitating whatever Greg did, i.e. climbing high and low, jumping up and down (though she did not dare jump into the pool of balls)!! Ultimately, girls are still girls...

Even Greg's Mummy was enjoying herself at the playground that day.

Ha, ha, now I know where to leave Gine and Hubby the next time I shop at Orchard Road!!

What's Up Next in your Life?

Have you ever wondered what is coming up next in your life?

Just a thought that came to my mind while reflecting on my own life...

When we were young, we looked forward to growing up. No more exams, no more stress. No disciplinary restrictions, a carefree life, independence, freedom. We envied the adults and were unable to relate to their worries. Innocent and simple...

In fact, at that stage of life, university graduation was what we were looking forward to. Hurdle after hurdle, exam after exam. Day in day out, life revolved round exams, school holidays, simple outings with friends, worries over pocket money, boy-girl relationships (BGR) etc.

At that time, parents were worried that we did not get a good education and would not be able to support ourselves in the future. We never appreciate their concern and regard them as a 'nuisance'. We blame them for nagging at us, intruding and controlling our life.

As we completed our education and stepped into the working society, we strived and struggled, hoping to climb up the corporate ladder, quickly if possible. At times, we did not pay much attention nor showed enough concern for our parents. Our parents yearned for us to get married and start our own families. We never understand their anxiousness and took our own sweet time on our 'family planning'.

Well, so what's next after setting up a family and having a career?

Promotion? Retrenchment? Mid career crisis? Or even better, retirement?

We look forward to our younger generation, achieving various milestones, just like what our parents were hoping to witness when we were young.

What's going to change about our lifestyle? Our health?

Perhaps I have witnessed Mum suffering much from her illness, her chemotherapy treatment during her last few years of life. Yet, she tried her utmost to continue to care for her children, worrying about her children's welfare and well-being, persistent and persevering till her last day, her last breath.

So, what is the true meaning of life? Going through the various stages and life cycle - days, months, years, decades...

Well, guess everyone is still searching for the true meaning of life but one thing that I'm definitely sure of - live life to the fullest, whichever way you desire, cos nobody is able to turn back the clock and choose to live the life they wanted the second time.
